Validation of HF radar sea surface currents in the Malta-Sicily Channel

Abstract A network of High-Frequency radar (HFR) stations runs operationally in the Malta-Sicily Channel (MSC), Central Mediterranean Sea, providing sea surface current maps with high temporal (1 h) and spatial (3 × 3 km) resolutions since August 2012. Comparisons with surface drifter data and near-surface Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP) observations, as well as radar site-to-site baseline analyses, provide quantitative assessments of HFR velocities accuracy. Twenty-two drifters were deployed within the HFR domain of coverage between December 2012 and October 2013. A New Branch-and-Cut Algorithm for the Generalized Directed Rural Postman Problem

The generalized directed rural postman problem, also known as the close-enough arc routing problem, is an arc routing problem with some interesting real-life applications, such as routing for meter reading. In this article we introduce two new formulations for this problem as well as various families of new valid inequalities that are used to design and implement a branch-and-cut algorithm. [EN] The generalized directed rural postman problem is an arc routing problem with many interesting real-life applications, such as routing for meter reading. In this application, a vehicle with a receiver travels through a series of neighborhoods. If the vehicle gets closer than a certain distance to a meter, the receiver is able to record the gas, water, or electricity consumption. The Generalitat Valenciana (Valencia Autonomous Community Authority) approved the maternity protection law one year ago. In this article, we talk about this law, its development and its connection with Valencian social services. We also make a point about the situation of social services faced with longstanding and new social needs to guarantee protection for people and groups in a vulnerability and/ or social exclusion situation. We conclude with the affirmation that this law does not propose any new policy in favour of maternity or anything new for the weak structure of social services.

To compare peak cough flows (PCF) obtained with a pneumotachograph (PCFp) with those measured using a portable peak flow meter (PCFm) in a population of healthy subjects and patients with neuromuscular disease.A total of 30 healthy subjects and 32 medically stable patients with neuromuscular diseases were studied. Electronic tongues were developed some ten years ago. These systems consist of an array of nonspecific sensors and a signal processing unit. The sensor signals are processed by pattern recognition methods which makes possible the extraction of specific properties from the sample.
